What is happening in the world of golf; Is it AT&T nationals at Aronimink?
Every day is new likewise with this new pleasant day there is something new happening everyday around the globe. The latest happening thing in golf is the AT&T National a professional golf tournament held in the Washington D.C, during the celebration week for Americans. A little background of the event follows as such as it was established in 2007 in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania at Aronimink Golf Club, with Par 70, Yardage of 7,237.The format applied here is stroke play. The defending champion Tiger woods’ is the host of the event which of course would benefit his foundation.
Each event has some history, some story linked with it. The history linked with the AT&T National is that for the very first time this event took place between July5th to July8th, in 2007 at the Blue Course, Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. By the way when this word Maryland is buzzed, one can imagine the sandy beaches with a breath taking view. Any ways, this event returned in Congressional in 2008 and 2009.To spice things up, this event was planned between the U.S. Open and the Open. Imagine the amount of healthy competition and excitement this would have created for the golfers and the golf lovers. Coming back to stories linked with it one must remember every event leaves a story whether it is a story of victory or of struggle.
So who won the tournament of AT&T? It was not Tiger Woods this time, but it was Justin Rose. Justin’s magnificent performance and being the first person from English origin won him two consecutive tournaments the same season. Moreover, Rose is in air, after being dubbed as the hottest player by a website. Justin Rose had a one-shot lead after hitting his tee shot on the 18th hole of the AT&T National tournament. Just a week before at the Travellers’ Championship, Rose had a three-shot lead into the final 18 holes, while he hit every green on the back nine. So the hottest English player scored seven straight pars to with an even-par 70. Tremendous players like Rickie Fowler, who believes the golf course belongs to him only, Ricky Barnes, who had a credit of six top 10's the same year were also the part of the big game.
120 players were announced to compete in the tournament with Moore as the biggest threat to Rose with one-putting on the last eight greens. Second to none, he hit a 12-foot par putt on the 18th hole to wind up his final round at 65. What was expected was entirely different, as they say that behind the most beautiful faces are at times the most deceitful souls. Golfers around the world had an unfulfilled desire of playing and winning the treacherous evergreens and beautiful hardwoods that finely slope the fairways at Aronimink. This beautiful and undulating scenario not only enhanced the level of difficulty, but it also gave the best of the bests a challenge to prove themselves.
This event took place in the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. This club was formed in 1896, the same year when the Royal and Ancient games, were held in America. According to the worlds’ rating, the golf course is rated among the top 100 golf course in USA. The club has a magnificent history of hosting multiple USGA and PGA championships. In 1962 PGA championship took place here, followed US Amateur in 1977, US junior amateur in 1997, senior PGA championship in 2003.
Discussing the statistics of the course itself, then it was designed by Donald Ross, with the par length of 70 and yardage of 7,237.
On the whole, the entire event went smooth, with loads of healthy competition, replacing Tiger Woods as the defending champion for Ryan Ross, who played wisely and patiently through the entire session. Yet again, new records were made, few old were broken and champions gave up their place for new ones to carry on the regime.
