What is happening right now with the US military bases in Iraq?

Well, some of them are very uneventful as far as military bases go, and others are on red-alert in fear of an attack on the base. The surge indeed did what it was supposed to, and with that there are more troops to keep the bases guarded.

But to go on a bit further what is really at stake is the Iraqi Military's bases. Many of the allied forces in Iraq are spending time making sure their bases are safe. Iraqi Military bases, whether they be police headquarters or infantry training sites or what have you, are frequent targets by murderous bombers.
