What is happening with my 1994 Subaru Impreza's manual starter motor after cleaning and taking apart?

I took apart and cleaned throughout my1994 Subaru Impreza's manual starter motor.

I put it back on my car, all I got when I tried to start my car was

Pop, pop, pop sound

and the car sounded like it was trying to start but didn't kick in.

Is this definately just the the starter motor at fault? If I replace it then my car will start good??

if its doing something now that it wasn't doing before, chances are that its something that you did.  take it to an auto sparky.
