  1. i play both and it took me a much longer time to learn the clarinet..the notes are easy but it takes a lot of time to get the tone right

  2. it all depends on the person playing it.

are you a good, fast learner? or does it take you 15 minutes to figure out what the heck a reed is?

i play clarinet, and it was simple to learn, but it isn't easy to get a beautiful tone.

i also have tried playing guitar. i think it is a bit harder, because of the way you have to play on certain strings, and the frets, and etc.

but with much practice, anything is possible.

  3. Hi DogDog

Clarinet is ten times harder than guitar. It is the hardest instrument to learn actually. Any good sax player usually start on clarinet.

When they switch to Sax, it is so much easier to play. But, if that is the instrument you feel like playing, get ready to sacrifice hours of study.

  4. Clarinet would be a harder instrument to play.  With the guitar, you can learn many chords and simple melodies quickly, but with the clarinet it takes a proportionate amount of time. If you're looking to find which is easier to play for your own benefit, I'd say play guitar =]
