i'm 15yrs.immigrant in the us and and i want to petition my kids in the philippines what should i do?

  1. Tough question.   A lot depends on factors you haven't told us.  If you're from a country with little demand for immigration (Iceland, Malta, etc.) immigrating your children might not take too long. If, as George pointed out, they're married or 21, 'tis another ballgame.  And if they're not 21 and single, but they're from a country with a huge backlog (Mexico, China, Philippines), it'll take a long, long time.

    If you become a US Citizen, the process for immigrating them is much faster, but the rub is- how long will it take you to become a citizen?  If you're going to stay here, go ahead and go for your citizenship.


  2. You'd have to file immigrant visa petitions for them, but it's certainly not very fast. It would take 5 years for children under the age of 21, and much longer if they're over the age of 21. If they're married, you won't be able to petition them unless  you become an American citizen. Check out uscis.gov for more information.
