i am makina a hanging organiser and it says to fuse heavy weight fusible stabilizer to the material

What is it

and is their any other alternitive

  1. yes, there are other methods... you can use poster board and spray adhesive to keep it in place.....I am the queen of cheat when it comes to having an alternative....Or you can use plastic canvas if you find some the size you need...It gives the project stabilitiy...hence the term stabilizer....

It is like an interfacing, some places just call it pellon.  Pellon comes in different weights, if you want heavy weight, use the firm or ultra firm fusible (iron on) pellon.  Most generally fabric stores, Wal-Mart, etc. carry it.  I'd say anywhere that has fabric will have pellon.  If you will look at the end of the bolt, it will say fusible, and one side or both  of the pellon will have a glossy sheen to it, this is the stuff that binds your pellon to your fabric when you heat it with an iron.

    The purpose of this in the project you're making is to make the organizer more sturdy and to help it hold it's shape better.  I use this product a lot in purses that I make.
