What is heroic about that? ?

John McCain flew 23 bombing missions over North Vietnam in a campaign called Operation Rolling Thunder. During this bombing campaign, which lasted for almost 44 months, U.S. forces flew 307,000 attack sorties, dropping 643,000 tons of bombs on North Vietnam (roughly the same tonnage dropped in the Pacific during all of World War II). Though the stated targets were factories, bridges, and power plants, thousands of bombs also fell on homes, schools, and hospitals. In the midst of the campaign, Defense Secretary Robert McNamara estimated that we were killing 1,000 civilians a week. That's more than one 9/11 every single month -- for 44 months.

What's not heroic about that? Is it any wonder all politicians speaking in public about John McCain are required to preface their remarks with a fawning admiration for his war service?

  1. civilians getting killed is just part of a major war, how can you complain about that and not know anything about how wars are fought.  the work they did was beneficial to the mission.  if you are supposed to bomb  a power plant, how are we supposed to tell innocents to get out of there, when the area is surrounded by the enemy?   you need to stop questioning deaths at war, because war is h**l, and if you are not able to stomach it, just don't put your nose into it.

  2. that is probably nothing compared to what u have done for our country

  3. I was going to answer your question but, to tell you the truth, it isn't worth the effort.

  4. nothing !

    murder is murder

the duty is beside bible is against murder!

    Numbers 35:16

" 'If a man strikes someone with an iron object so that he dies, he is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death.

    Exodus 20:13

    "You shall not murder.

  5. First, I agree it's bad, second what was the difference between a civilian and gorrilla fighter in north vietnam, not much. My father was in vietnam, they had more problems with civilian attacks then they did with north vietnamese soldiers, so pull you head out.

And you can't blame McCain for following orders, or we would have to charge Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola g*y, with mass murder.

  6. So your point is....? Are you going to harp on the HW Bush too? Why not George Washington or U.S. Grant or even Teddy Roselvelt? If you are going to rant about us people in the military fighting and trying to protect others, post your resume...I am sure you do more than blog and bytch. Save whales, puppies, harp seals, homeless, teach kids, what? What are you doing instead of just saying opinions on how you feel toward the government and military.

It's your right and but geez you weren't in Vietnam right, you didn't get drafted, so why are you so bitter? Did your country get bombed by us imperialist dogs? I don't like war. They ALL suck and I am the one fighting in them, so I can commented more than anybody. But it's my job and I do it. I do it so you can have the freedom to diss away and keep it from being like China or Iran where you would get prison for your post here (if you were allow to be on the internet first of all).

  7. Jane Fonda!? Is that you?

  8. Whoa! I can appreciate you questioning ones war service as a qualifier for political office but to assassinate one for their service is inexcusable. At one time I thought I would become clergy and serve to make the world a better place.Later, being inducted I found myself in this tropical paradise.Where I was told there were a 100 species of snakes,99 of them were poisonous and the other would swallow you whole. The heat, stench the unbelievable hostile conditions was something you silently shared with your fellow soldier. The heart pounding from heat and overexertion and anticipation of the next explosion would be dispelled by the camaraderie. You see we shared everything ammo, food, water and support.Everyone with you shared the same existence. We didn't quit. We had each other. In order for you to criticize the actions of a government do not ever make the mistake of disrespecting the individual soldier, sailor, marine or airman again. Know your target of dissent and intelligently present your argument. My father fought for 3.5 years during WWII,my brother and I in Vietnam and now my son.I take great umbrage in what you said but forgive your ignorance.I personally stand up and salute our military and pray for their safety. God Bless America and Her Military.

  9. Dave, don't be a religious zealot and pick and choose what you want from the bible. There are dozens of verses that tell to kill people who disobey ordered laws in the bible.

  10. the point is John McCain answered the call when his country needed him in the military, and it's not like he got to choose if he WANTED to do the mission or not, not only are you dissing John McCain but your dissing our military, and also many of the "civilians" there were trying to kill americans themselves, go to h**l

  11. and  suppose you have the sack to hop in a jet plane, try to run from incoming missiles and planes trying to kill you all in the name of trying to stop the oppression of communism ?

bet you werent even born then were you ?

oh  and by the way I dont like him , i will never vote republican, but he was following orders, and was willing to give his life if need be.

i despise war it is all wrong , period !
