I'm starting high school in august and I'm not really that nervous but whats it really like? Is it hard? Are people really mean to freshman? What about socially? People have told me your gonna love high school and that its the best 4 years of your life but i know that doesn't happen for everyone. Any tips about entering high school as a freshman?

  1. wow! so theres alot to say about high school. High school can be whatever you want it to be. Dont be fake and try to act like everyone else. just be yourself. people will either like you or not. be chill, join sports and clubs, and have fun

  2. freshman year isnt that bad. no people dont treat freshman bad. just try and have fun and keep your friends from middle school but make new ones and some classes are hard but not that bad

  3. You find out who your real friends are. Take advantage of the clubs and activities, they will help you in the long run. Be true to yourself and others, don't go out of your way to impress other people. It's a waste of time. Boys will come and go. So stick to your studies and have lots of fun!

  4. Stay close to your friends. Make new ones too. Don't make trouble. And ignore those dumb upperclassmen. :]

    You'll be okay.

  5. well i was a freshman this year but i'm gonna be a sophmore this up  comming school year. eah the upper classmen can be real jerks, mostly the girls cause you are new competition, but the upperclassmen guys will try to hit on you cuz you are new bate and they think that can get you, its kinda crazy the teachers wont give you any slack so be a suck up for the first few days, then the teachers will think you good and give you some leway. the classes are kind of hard but you can get used to them, socially you'll reilize soon that there are groups and once you get into one you wont be able to go anywhere else so stick with a good one, ummmm dont let people give you are hard time and stick up for what is right, because people lovvveee drama and they love to start rumors so dont give them the chance, dont go for a guy right away even if you think he's hott it will make it hard. learn your classes and only ask techers where rooms are. but do have fun thats bout it, stick with your friends but you will find way more and you'll loose some too. just have fun its the same as jr. high just its bigger and more dramatic.

  6. okay

wen i was a freshman allthe upper class[wo]men loved our class. and still do like some girls were best friends with juniors.

wen i was a sophmore, the freshman that came in were stuckup b***hes and noone liked them. some people started to. but please dont be stuck up and act like ur all cool.

honestly this sounds harsh but its the truth::

ur not in 8th grade ur not on top of the world dont walk in with a chip on ur shoulde u will get ur a** kicked. and girls dont think u got it better i worked in an all girl school and they were worse than guys

-- quoted from my 8th grade gym teacher

u will meet new friends but remember to keep ur grammar school friend

my and my bff have been friends for 11 years

and remember make tons of new friends you will meet the greatest people ever

so yah ur at the bottom now and as for "freshman friday" whne the upperclass men play  pranks son you they didnt do it to us.

im going to be a junior in a new school the school i knew and loved for the past two years just closed and i am scared to start a new school but i think ill be fine cus i hav alot of friends there.

highschool is the best 4 years of your life

and highschool is full of drama and tears and trust me at some points in your life it wont be but trust me u will meet the greatest people there. i know i have.  and even though  me and my friendshad out ups and downs [ohand trust me when we were mad at eachother all he*l broke loose] but in the end we are friends and i hope u are as lucky as i was to meet some pretty great people.

its really what u make of it

remember dont regret anything u do

everything happens for a reason and ppl leave ur life to make room for better ppl

and dont regret anything cus u have to remember at one point in life it was exactly what u wanted

oh yeah and dont talk about people cus trust me t*t all gets back to them

and please dont lie and pretend ur another person this girl did that and woah did she hav problems tthis yeaar woah with that girl that a story i cant get into.

so any more questions or anything

ppleasee feel frree to email me @ shiningstarr33@yahoo.com

  7. you're going to be just fine. i was in your shoes last year =). here are some tips:

    1) always smile- smiling shows you're friendly and you're open to people for conversation. smile at people and teachers.

    2) dress to impress- don't change your style for the first day of school or throughout the year. wear something a little nicer for the first day, but that's it.

    3) have good posture- don't walk in a room slouched over. sit up straight in your seat and walk standing upright.

    4) have confidence- if you get the chance to stand up and talk about yourself the first day in a room, do it right. get up and smile and look people in the eyes, even if you don't know them. it will show you're friendly. you could practice this at home before you start school.

    5) smell nice- spray a hint of a cute perfume on yourself before each class. =)

    6) act comfortable, even if you're not- this one's hard, but you have to do it. don't go up and talk and keep saying "uh" and such.

    7) be kind- if you see someone who is lost or needs help, help them. that's how you make friends.

    8) be active in school- me and my locker partner became close because of fbla. i met so many upperclassmen and such being in a club. sports are also really good because you will find people with comon interest.

    9) go to orientation- if your school has an orientation, then go. mine did and i know it put my mind at ease that i was able to walk around the school and see where classes and places were before school started.

good luck, and if you have any questions about anything... feel free to e-mail me... it's in my profile!

  8. Freshman year was so much fun for me, so it'll be fine. ignore the stereotypes that highschool. Just dont act really dumb around upperclassmen, cause they will call you on it. Highschool is gonna be great. just stay calm and focused.

  9. i just finished my fresman yr and it was notthin like the movies... most of ur classes will be with freshmen like you... every1 has their crowd  and upper class men could care less about wat grade ur in.... its not always easy sumtime u might face the drama of vicous rumors but as long as u stick with ur friend ull get through it ... and sum people u can slack off freshmen year but if u do u will regret it when its time 2 apply 4 college so books b4  boys... high school will be a blast... the only thing u should watch out for would be the select few upper class men who prey on freshmen because they think ur young and naive... good luck and relax ull be fine. wish u the very best!

  10. High school was pretty boring for me, i could have cared less about the popular people, or the cool people. Just stay true to yourself and dont try to impress anyone but yourself. Enjoy the laughs, i dont think highschool was hard, but i suggest you take higher level classes to prepare for college, that was what i regretted not doing. I stongly urge you to prepare for college, i find that highschool does not push you hard enough now days.Enjoy the carefree, stressfree highschool, becuz college is the harder years, however i am enjoying college so much more :)

  11. I'm gonna be a senior. My advice is pretty basic, but you seem pretty concerned so serious pay attention to what I'm gonna tell you. I know what I'm talking about lol  =)

    1) Not all upperclassmen are mean. You wanna know whose gonna give you the most problems? SOPHMORES- Haha laugh....I'm not joking.

Seniors- are smarter. They know what they can get away with as well as what they cant. They have real things to think about like college and staying out of trouble to keep scholarships and stuff. The only time they'll really bother you is senior prank and it's usually something that affects the whole school so don't worry.

Juniors- Have much more to do than pick on Frosh. SAT's and High School Expectation Test's are this year. Juniors are for the most part the most mature. College's look at Junior year the most so most of them will think a little before s******g up everything they've worked for by messing with the freshman. If anything the Juniors will probably be the most helpfull.

SOPHMORES- You can't blame them....you'll be one too soon lol. They are so sick of hearing "hey freshman", "look it's a freshman", etc, that as soon as they get the chance to be sophmores they're going to take COMPLETE advantage of that one stupid year they have above you. I've even done it myself lol. You see a freshman in the hall and you purposely say really loud to your friends..."Dont you hate those stupid freshman" It's out of love =) Plus...they had to hear it the year before. You'll probably catch yourself saying it one day as well  =)

    2) I dont wanna sound like a teacher or Guidance Councelor but in all honestly....JOIN CLUBS

                                     JOIN TEAMS

                                     JOIN STUDENT COUNCIL

                                     JOIN JOIN JOIN!!!!!!!!

The more the better. The year will flyyyyyy as long as you keep busy. On top of that colleges LOVE I repeat LOVE students that participated throughout high school. Even if your a little skeptic about a club....TRY IT! You'll never know until you try. High School sports teams are like family. Atleast at my school they are. They become your bestfriends. Don't let that opportunity pass you by. You'll heavly regret it!

    3) DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA

there's no avoiding it. Don't even try. Keep your head up through out everything. Remember one thing!

-"MAKE NEW FRIENDS BUT KEEP THE OLD ONE IS SILVER AND THE OTHER GOLD"

That probably sounds so corny but it wont when your in the bathroom skipping class crying your eyes out cause your "best friend" betrayed you, talked about you, whaterrrrr...

You'll know who your TRUE friends are. It's in highschool that you discover this. Hold on to them no matter what. Fight for them, Hug them, make sure they know you love them, and if they're TRUE....you'll know they love you  =) Dont forget to keep your doors open to new people no matter how many times the stupid ones try to hurt your feelings. You learn from your mistakes.

    4) Are you ready for this one?

                    BOYS......

    SOooOOOOOoooOOOOOooooOOOOOooooooOOOOOo...

    OVERATED!

Dont let anybody hurt you. That's when those TRUE friends are gonna come in handy  =) My only advice........Don't fall for just anybdy. And even when you think you've found somebody worth your time....Just slip....Dont fall. Some girls go goo goo for their high school sweethearts and when their gone....the ones who fell are partly gone themselves.

    5) Education-

Dont be lazy! Highschool's not that bad work wise.

MANAGE YOUR TIME! That's sooo important. Dont disrespect your teachers. They can be the biggest A** in the world....Either way they're still human, and idk maybe it's just me, but I believe that everyone deserves respect....haha even Freshman  =P

    6) Socially-

You could be class president.... Heck.....you could OWN the school.....The sky's the limit.....just know when to come back down for some air....  =)

Be nice, be friendly, try to be outgoing, dont forget to be YOU...dont change for anybody but yourself!

There you go! I hope I helped you! Good luck!

PS: Dont tell anyone I helped you....I dont wanna be known as a nice upperclassmen or anything  =P

  12. In my high school, all grades were mixed, and the teachers made seating charts, so you were always sitting by someone new. One of the best tips would be to just talk to everyone, and don't exclude anyone by the way they look, talk, dress, etc. because they may be your new best friend in that class.

If you have nothing to talk about, talk about something within that class.

I really loved high school (freshman in college this year...) and I thought it was tons of fun. My sister doesn't like it, but i think its because of her attitude going into school!

  13. high school is what you make of it. work hard and have fun. upperclassmen are not really mean to freshman--if any thing they won't even pay attention to you or care. i liked my freshman year (last year) of high school a lot. it was one of my best years of school so far, and i'm looking forward to this year. just remember, there are lots of other people like you, so teachers will go easy on you the first few weeks until you're acclimated. i bet they'll even let it slide if you're a minute or two late the first few days--getting lost being very common when you've just started.

    good luck!!

  14. i'm gonna be a freshman too!

although i don't see how i can be much of help when i'm looking for the same answer myself.....

but all i know so far is

just be yourself [the most popular yet annoying advice yet really true] cause i heard from other people that what you do in freshman year is what gets stuck on you till senior year ... there are exceptions. i had to go to my high school for p.e. [they now call it p.f. .... i call it bs....lol jk]  so i didn't have to take it during the school year i met some of the upperclassmen and the ones i saw were pretty nice. others .....well, thats a different story. its not that hard to make friends as i thought it would. i made a few friends....i don't know how...its weird...but i'm glad i did.......

    i'm sorry if i wasn't much of help :[

p.s. they say high school will be fun if you're involved....in anything from sports to art to music....and thats a good way to make friends.
