I have an 02 cavalier 2.4l and everytime I go 45mph I hear a loud humming and feel vibrations on floor and wheel. I put my car on a lift and found no visible damage to boots or rods besides some rust. My rotors and brakes are also bad and I recently bought new tires. I also found that when I put my car in neutral going slighlty downhill my speed slowly decreased and I can feel that I have lost some power to the wheels.

  1. sounds like the whell has hit something hard possibly a kerb and caused, either structural damage to the wheel/alloy or the the (im having A memory block here, the longrod thing it is nutted onto?) chassis? is bent.

  2. Sounds alot being described is a bad Hub Bearing, which most are sealed and have to be replaced as a total assembly.

  3. yes you have a bad wheel bearing (hub bearing) they come as an assembly with the abs sensor in them... you need to determine where it coming from... front rear left right...  most shops will be able to determine which one specially if it is already that loud... they can always use a tool called a chasie ear to determine which one it is...

  4. possibly the wheel bearing/hub?
