  1. It is a spread made from chick peas.  It has spices added to it and is generally considered Middle Eastern dish in origin, but has become popular here.  I prefer it on pita chips with veggies.

  6. its chickpeas. they grind the chickpeas into a paste and then flavor them.. you will also find the chickpea paste in falafels. *sp

  7. Hummus is garbanzos/chick peas pureed with olive oil and spices. One key ingredient is pureed sesame seeds. What do they call that stuff? Tahini? I love it with roasted peppers, garlic, ground black pepper, red pepper flakes and toasted pita.
