What is in Dawn Soap?

I had a nasty cockroach in my sink, so I poured a little Dawn on it. I didn't drowned it with water, I just put Dawn on it's back. And within 3 seconds, it twitched and died. What the heck is in Dawn soap that killed that roach so fast? Because, I've done it before and the same results happened.

According to the label, Dawn contains biodegradable anionic surfactants. On the Material Safety Data Sheet for Dawn, under the hazardous ingredients list, the only things that appears is Ethyl alcohol.

The ethyl alcohol could have done it, but also, many soaps can easily suffocate bugs because of their consistency.
