Also, what is the stuff they inject you with before the CT scan? Could this have a negative affect on sperm?

  1. The drink for a CT scan is usually barium sulfate.  It is a think white liquid and is sometimes flavored, sometimes not.  There is also another drink we give sometimes called gastrograffin or gastroview depending on the brand, and it is usually mixed with juice or gatorade, etc.  The beverage should have no effect on you except occasionally people get nausea or diarrhea.  The injectable contrast contains iodine.  Some people are allergic to this contrast, and it can be a very serious allergic reaction.  However it should not effect your sperm.

  2. It is barium and it has no affect on sperm.

  3. It does not harm you at all. I Had 50 scans already and i am likely to get more in future.

You have to drink barium smoothies (most of the time I had to drink 2) and it comes in several flavors like banana, cherry, and so on. I had barium in a juice  once when I was in the hospital but i think  it is rare to see juice.

They have bad taste and i ended up vomiting most of the time. It tasted like some kind of  chemical cleaning product mixed with a smoothie. Sometimes you have to eat pudding like substance that tastes like chalk if the doctor wants to see your esophagus.

They inject some kind of contrast and i don't know the name of it. However that's the easy part. you feel like you urinated when it is injected.

  4. No, no effect on sperm. They might ask if you have any shellfish allergies, but not any problems with sperm.
