What is in the vase?

Question

I like the square purple things in the vase, but I can't seem to figure out what they are or how to get them.

Also would I be able to create something like this using silk flowers?

I want to say it looks like either rubber or painted Styrofoam squares.

I dont know what the squares are but what came to mind is making them out of soap or candle wax. Maybe fondant or gumpaste. I'd go with the gumpaste since the soap or candle wax might scratch the vase inside and make it look "dirty"

It looks like floral foam or some other type of spongy material....

you could totally do this with any type of flower and with any type of color.

they almost look like sugar cubes but I don't think that would work because they would dissolve.

It is definitely colored floral foam.  Oasis has created a colored foam -- Oasis Rainbow Foam -- that comes in bricks, in a powder foam, and in cubes, like you see in this photo.  Here is an example of a site I found that offers it:

However, if you type Oasis Rainbow Foam into your search box, I'm sure many offer sites will come up that also offer this product!

As for using silk flowers, there is no reason why you can't!  Just recreate the arrangement as you see it, just replacing real flowers with artificial -- and, it'll last longer!  :)

They look almost like styrofoam to me. Your local craft store probably has loads of things like that.. You could totally recreate the look with silk flowers. I've seen some very realistic looking ones!

It's the floral foam stuff.

I do not remember what it is called right now, but it is the stuff that florists use to make little boxwood trees and stuff.

If you go to your local florist they would be able to tell you.

Also, you could definitely recreate that using which ever type of flowers you wanted- silk included.

White styrofoam squares coated with spray glitter...  The purple hue is from the vase not the foam cubes...

Might also be floral oasis ( a very dense foam) in white
