What is indirect finance and direct finance? ?

in order to gather funds, there are two methods. Indirect finance and direct finance. Could you please explain the meaning to me, if possible in words that even average people would understand

Borrowing money from an Uncle; direct.  Money from a bank, indirect because the bank gets their money from depositors, and they don't know where their money ends up.
