  1. Indirect measurement means that you’re measuring something by measuring something else. E.g: Let’s say I wanted to find out about something that is a little harder to measure... like how quickly the wind is blowing. I may not be able to measure the wind’s actual speed, but if I had a windmill, I could measure how much power the windmill is making. Then, using this information, I could work backwards to figure out how fast the fan is rotating or in other words how fast the wind must be. This would be an example where I have to measure something ’indirectly.’

  2. i think it's something like measuring temperature using infrared.

  3. Indirect Measurement

    Definition of Indirect Measurement

Indirect measurement is a technique that uses proportions to find a measurement when direct measurement is not possible.

    Examples of Indirect Measurement

The length of a pole in a picture is given as 4 inches. The scale of the picture is given to be 1 inch : 13 inches. By setting up a proportion, the length n of the actual pole can be found. (google)
