  1. Internal debridement is a "posh" way of saying-- Keyhole surgery -- as this is what everyone knows it as these days!  An arthroscopy.

    It is usually done for osteoarthritis of the knee.

    3 holes are bored in the knee,one at each side and another in the centre

    Using fibre-optics,an instrument is used to remove loose joint debris & smooth out damaged areas of cartilage or menisci ,and a saline washout is also done to wash out all the debris.

    This is done through the small holes to which a stitch will be inserted afterwards.
