To take two things and completely wrap them around each other.

I like the part of the word 'inter' because its very intimate.  Like every part of that thing is combining with something else, not just a little bit.

If you are intertwining fingers, all of each finger is wrapped around the other fingers.  You didn't just hold hands.

Very dramatic word.
