  1. Keen observation for everything and turn that thing/event/conversation/incident into humor in such a way that nobody offends and finds it funny enough to have a good laugh.

  2. Confidence

  3. you have to do a lot of amateur nights and get a reputation going where people in the comedy club business have heard of you and your abilities. its tough to book a paid show (you would almost certainly need another steady job while youre trying to make it as a comedian). you need a sense of humor that appeals to a wide audience and you also need to be a good actor- you will be memorizing jokes and if they sound robotic, they wont be funny. its a very tough business to succeed in, but if thats what you really want to do, audition your butt off, sign up and perform at every comedy club amateur night available to you (if youre under 21 you wont be able to attend most of them until youre of age) and remember, everyone in show business goes through rejection over and over again before they reach success (if they ever do). good luck!

  4. a really really thick skin.. and the ability to be poor... really really poor
