I am 18 years old and I am missing records towards what credits I have as far as 11th grade and from what I have been told I would have to go back a grade to get those credits so I can get my high school diploma. am i wrong? I will not be attending college, all i want is my diploma.

I'm not going back so if i would have to do that I want to just get my GED. what do I need to do in the state of MN to get that? thank you for your help.

  1. if you'd like to get your GED, i would suggest attending a GED program.

the biggest benefit of attending a program is, a lot of them will pay for your testing. otherwise, it will cost $75 to take the tests, and $20 for any re-tests.

my roommate and i both got our GED's, and attended one of the programs. basically, you come in a couple days or nights a week, and do some assignments (this is so they can determine if you're ready for the tests). after completing assignments in all areas of the testing, you will be able to move on and take the actual tests. which are pretty easy.

the program we went to actually payed for the testing, AND payed us to complete the program, $50. so that was kind of cool. but you could also just take the tests without the program and just pay the fees yourself. you would also need to be 19 years old, unless you have a waiver from the department of education. for the programs -- you need to be 16 years of age or older.

here are two links that might be helpful:
