  1. Breaking traction at the rear of the car so that you can then balance the angle of the car using the throttle and steering.  Mainly the throttle.  You need either a h**l of a lot of power of else low grip at the rear.  I used to do this before it was fashionable in a Mk 3 Cortina which had sod all power, but only 165 section tyres and a lot of body roll.  Pumping the tyre up (illigally for the road) HARD also helped as it reduced the contact area (in Autotesting).   You'd not have much fun in a Vectra as it is FWD.  I'd recommend polishing the vectra and getting a Mk 2 escort or an old 3-series BMW if you fancy drifting.

  2. I have watched  drifting on bbc2 topgear and it looks very hard you need a bit of driving skill to do it

  3. Vectras are front wheel drive.  How on Earth is yours rear?  That would have been an enormously expensive conversion!

  4. drifting is controlling the angle of the car using the throttle, it's basically a controlled skid and can be done best in rear wheel drive cars as a front wheel drive will pull the car straight when you apply power.

  5. just as a starting point... drifting isnt art.... its motor sport

  6. A lot of skill, decent tyres and a suitable track.
