  1. You have to check with the Army Engineer Corp regarding building anything on waterfront property and the waterway accomodates public and commercial use. Lakes are the exception


  2. i built my own, i can tell you it is, easy to build but a pain to get the permits, but others have stated it depends where you are at and what type of waterway.....mine wasa brackish canel, with ocean access that flucuated with the tides...i ihave to get a permits through my city, county(EPA), because there are manettees in the water, and also the Army Corp. of Eng...so be prepeared, i am in Florida

  3. Are you talking a lake or canal to the ocean> Local county permiting will be your first call>They will tell you what is needed>Sit down first>>

  4. every state and county have different requirements  and building codes. you must submit plans and pay permit fees and be inspected. local city hall will have more answers.
