  1. I did that once, rode from the Greyhound station in downtown LA to Thermopolis, Wyoming.  It took a couple of days.  I think there was a scenic stop at the Devils Tower, featured in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  The route there went thru Utah, to Cheyenne, with a connection to Thermopolis, and back through Denver and New Mexico.  It was real scenic.  Passengers were nice, I was about 13 at the time.  An old alcoholic befriended me and told me stories for hours, he was a nice old guy.  


  2. The longest bus ride I ever took was from Topeka, Kansas to Duluth, Minnesota.  That's about 650 miles.  For the most part, it was just boring.  Bring something to do, like crossword puzzles or a book to read.  You'll get tired of looking out the window after a while.
