What is it? 1 and a half year old dead!

my friends baby died notlong ago but they checked it when it was sleeping and the infants body was all black with white spots and was as stiff as a board. it was fine like an hour ago though.

nobody knows what happened. what do you think it might be?

that is utterly impossible.

"stiff as a board" would indicate rigor mortis had set in. meaning the baby was dead for A LEAST 12 hrs.

i smell something fishy here.

It could have been SIDS which even toddlers can die of SIDS. There is so much information out there about infants dying of SIDS, but older children can also. There could have been so many medical problems that no one was aware of also.

I have never heard of this.  a body wouldn't be "stiff " in just an hour.  Are you sure you got these facts straight.

I'm so sorry about your friend's loss. It sounds like meningitis. What did the coroner say?

The baby probably passed form SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) But Im pretty sure if the baby was fine an hr prior the body was not stiff as a board and black.. Rigor takes some time after death..

1- That's not possible. For a body to become "stiff as a board" would take around 12 hours.

2- If the Doctor/Coroner couldn't answer this question, then how could we?

AND

3- I don't believe that the Police/Doctor/etc. would've REALLY believed the Parents' story when they told them that the baby became "stiff as a board" in an hour or less.

That is awful!! They should have done a autopsy. Babies don't just die. There must be a reason I don't know much about SIDS and I don't know what age babies are out of the woods for that but maybe it was something like that.
