I know that! All other areas of Rafa`s game are excellent, im just saying if his serve imrpoved a lot he`d get cheap points like other players.

  1. aces arent everything! it doesnt matter how many aces u hit in a match. he hits more spin on the ball, and places it well. he doesnt need a bomb for a serve

  2. he has tooooo much slice and the other players attack slice

  3. From 2006 during Wimbledon "In the third round against Andre Agassi, Nadal said he had the best service game of his career. He smashed 18 aces and never faced a break point. His fastest serve was clocked at 129 mph, and the average speed of his first service was a snappy 117 mph. Federer, for example, has reached a top speed of 129 mph and averaged 121 mph on his first service. Federer has authored 46 aces in five matches, while Nadal has 41."

Wimbledon 2007: Nadal 31 aces, Federer 75 aces

At least in 2006, he wasn't that far from Federer on grass.  However, Nadal's strengths are his ground game, quickness, and never give up attitude.  On clay courts, a big serve doesn't always translate into aces anyway.  Just ask Ivo Karlovic who didn't serve a single ace against Gael Monfils in a loss at Monte Carlo last week.

  4. I'd say he just takes a little pace off his serves for accuracy. He needs to take a few more risks on that serve. If he had a serve like Roddick's with his own current ground game, he'd be untouchable. I love Roddick's serves. Even his second serves are quite fast and he serves very few double faults.

  5. well on the deuce side he usually always serves up the "T"

  6. I would say he uses a lot of topsin and he is kind of predictable with his serving, at least on one side of the court.

  7. He is born as a right hander, but has trained his left hand from an early age because he was told he would gain an advantage being a leftie as a tennis player.

Therefore he is unable to serve like the best of the best. The serve is the most complicated swing in tennis, and even if you train your weakst arm from an early age, you will be at a disadvantage compared to those who use their best arm to serve.

  8. I would rather see Rafa win matches without many aces coz thats just his style...his consistency in play is above average and that would  place him as the greatest claycourter ever...
