Question:

What is it about people and fast cars?

I have noticed that everyone is always tuning up their vehicles and pretty much nothing in the engine is stock. They all want their cars to go fast and get better torque. BUT WHY THE HECK DO YOU TUN UP YOUR CAR SO MUCH? ITS A WASTE OF MONEY!

You basically tune your cars to exceed the speed limit, and if you hadn't paid any attention in driver's school, SPEEDING IS ILLEGAL! Not to mention stupid in the drivers position.

Way I see it, leave your car PURE stock, no modded parts, no fancy mufflers. And yes, N0S is stupid too.

Why not keep your cars the way they are instead of smashing into someone while doing 110 down a 50 zone.

  1. If this a rant about dumb@$$ ricers, I agree?  What a waste of money to put $1000's of dollars into a ricer car that with all the mods still only can do a 20 second quarter mile

  2. its a psychological thing and its different for every one i don't need to go 110 but if i can hit 60 or 70 in a second or two its so exciting it is nearly erotic thats why people do it.

  3. Personally I think there can be a valid reason to do mods to a car or truck. My 2005 Duramax for example is modified with a power programmer so that I can adjust at what RPM I hit my peak Torque and BHP, as well as detune and tune it for a variaty of reason (economy, acceleration, overall performance, when the gov. kicks on, and back to stock) it is also equipped with a cold air intake for better airflow cuaseing a slight boost in economy. Myself, its handy to have for when I am pulling my fifth wheel, go to the bush for quadding, or even just going out for some good old fashion off roading, its also lifted with a 3" body lift so I could fit bigger tires for better clearence, another reason for the programmer, to adjust my speedo to read correctly, and with all of this I still drive only about 5-10 KM faster then the speed limit.

My '72 Chevelle SS, thats a different story, I have done headers, aftermarket exuast, a fourbarrell Carb, dropped a new crate in, and after 8 years of work to it more then I could list here, it can snap off a 1/4 mile on average 13.29 seconds and is so loud it scares small children (not literally) yet when driveing that I still do the speed limit, The reason I've done all this to the Chevelle is becuase it sounds so d**n s**y and its a project car that I have wanted to put this kind of money and effort into.

As for my wifes car and my cheap gas pot daily runner, nothing has been done to them becuase there is no need, and no desire. Frankly I think more then anything you are lumping anyone who may enjoy performance in their vehicles and the sound  of a big power V-8, or have a legit reason for increasing horsepower and torque in a truck with those who do it becuase its the "cool" fast and the furious type of lifestyle that is enamoured in movies and have no respect and are not mature enough no matter the age to be able to be in possesion of that kind of power. Dont be down on anyone who mods, be against the ones who abuse the Modifications and have general disregard for the public's and their own safty.

  4. Symptom of a short d**k. Jacked up pickups too.

  5. we like fast cars because

it men fell like a men

  6. no ****, my car is stock

however my honda 450r quad isnt =D

  7. ADRENALINE BABY!!!

  8. Not only are they harder to buy (higher price) but the potential for thrill at the edge is higher.

  9. they look good, and like da first guy said

  10. You see, people mostly tune thir cars to either show off or for thrills. Let me explain people who tune don't try to make thair cars necessarily accieve the highest speed possible but they try their best to get the car to accelerate as quickly as possible sice that is what provides the real thrills. After all it is illegal to speed but it isn't illegat to get to the speed limit in a second

  11. i can do 110 in a stock car its about how fast you can get up to that speed

  12. Maybe you are generalizing.  I dislike the actions of those testosterone crazy, and inconsiderate, sometimes motorized manslaughtering people too.  My nephew's best friend, 14 was just killed on the road in daylight by a speeder a few weeks ago.

I was thinking of adding NOS to just one of my racing cars so that I can go faster down the drag strip.  I'm not proud, but am rather self-validating and cherish my integrity and obedience of the laws with safety of others as a priority, no medical emergencies??? as a REAL NHRA, sanctioned-body drag racer.  It costs alot of money and helps fuel the economy, and that money stays in the Country.

The fact that my cars run on the street is inconsequential, unless that saves money to offset costs, and they are not noisy at all.  My neighbors are mad at me for driving so slow - they think I'm a 'cruiser' and am showing off.  They are also ticked off that I spend so much time shining my vehicles while theirs perhaps, look like dirt?

There's nothing wrong with their rides, they just need to get out of their jacuzzis, put down the beer, and do a little heart warming exercise with a cloth and a bottle of car polish.
