What is it called when a company such as Kimbrells Furniture give you a good credit letter?

Kimbrells Furniture doesn't report to the credit companys, but will give you a letter saying you have a good credit account with them to give other companys..Whats that letter called? I had thought is was a (Letter of Credit) but its not.

  1. that letter is useless. they should post your credit history to the 3 bureaus. if they dont report it to your credit, that letter literally means zilch, nada, zippo!

The letter you are referring to is called a "Credit Reference".  It itself is useful in dealing with local finance companies and other "in house lenders".  If you want the account added to your credit report, contact the 3 credit bureaus and request to "Add a tradeline".  They will require a copy of your letter, and may ask you to complete an additional form in order to list the item on your report.
