What is it called when you bend the top corner of a book to mark it?

Like to remember the page. Is it earmark or dogtag or something?

It's called the librarian will look at you funny and ask if you did that. You say yes, and they say don't do that ...you are supposed to get a bookmark. (I think they call that earmarked.)

It's called a "dog ear" and it ruins the book. If you need to remember where you left off,I simply use a business card when I can't find my bookmark.
