What is it called when you include the question in your answer?

Some teachers require this and I don't remember what its called: Say the question is 'What is your favorite color?' My answer should be 'My favorite color is yellow.' Not just 'yellow.' What is that called?

    Term: Rhetorical Question

    Definition:

    A rhetorical question is one that requires no answer because the answer is obvious and doesn't need to be stated . The speaker (of the rhetorical question) is not looking for an answer but is making some kind of a point, as in an argument.

  3. It's called "restating the question in your answer."  It's a good habit to have if you're a student or an interviewee.
