I want to go to a small town which is more countryside than commercial and that will not be all snow covered. What small town would you reccommend in switzerland? I need to be able to get a train from geneva to it. I will only be there for 2 days.

Also any advice for going at this time of year?

I went to montreux in late october and it was beautiful, but want something less commercial.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  2. wait till April

  3. I live in Geneva so I know a few places that is nice.  Most places around Geneva as best suited for summer but some of the chrismas markets are nice and you can get great food.  Montreux is a really beautiful place, you could visit the Chateux de Chillon which is a really beautiful place.  Basel is around 2 hour drive from Geneva which is also a very good place to go to.  If you would like to go to more of the countryside, try around the interlaken, it might be a little cold around there as it is a little elevated but the view is really beautiful.  Nyon is very close to Geneva and you can walk through the town and you get outdoor markets there.  If you are interested in skiing then I suggest chamonix which is a very nice ski resort.  The weather in Geneva is cold but pleasant during winter.

    Have fun.

  4. Nyon is a very nice little town on Lake Geneva.  If you want to stay away from snow and cold then you have to stay close to lake Geneva.  You do often get a cold rain in winter though, be prepared for it.  Geneva itself is very nice to explore...I would also highly recommend taking the Glacier Express, the Alps are amazing in summer and winter too.
