What is it? its not my o2 sensors

my car is showing a check engine code of lean mixture and my o2 sensors are fine what else can it be? i do have a tear in the hose that delivers the air past the filter and to the fuel injector.( the biggest black hose like 3in diameter.)

  1. There most likely is the problem. If the tear is between the air flow sensor and the injectors, it will cause the air flow sensor to read less air then the engine is using. This results in lean burn.

    Duct tape may be a temp fix. But I would replace it as soon as possible.


  2. What happens if you tape up the tear?

    Where is the tear in relation to the mass flow sensor?

  3. that is it your computer is getting mixed readings and its messing with how the fuel is burning in ur combustion chamber

  4. Try clearing the error code off the computer first. The problem might be solved but the computer will still show the error code for a while. If you clear the code and it comes back then you know you still have an issue.  

  5. do not click on the links from cash. he answers every question no matter what is with the same links.

    Remove the negative battery cable for sixty seconds, reconnect and see if you get the same message code.

  6. Fix the hose and reset the light. That should take care of it. Also clean the mass air flow meter. If the light comes back on with the same code then start checking for vacuum leaks.
