  1. It has all the same laws as the rest of the community nations and living in the country you'll pick the lingo up easy.Don't know about the legal age for moped as most of them now are actually motor cycles but wear a helmet for sure.

  2. Heyyy

Im 17 and have lived here in Sabinillas (near marbella) since i was 6.

I love it and wouldnt change it for any other place in the world.

I have a moped. the legal age in spain to drive 1 is 14. the exam is really easy, its just abc questions from a book and my book had the answers marked in in pencil lol

I have always been to skool in gibraltar which is all english, use pounds n everything. im currently at the gib college finishin my a levels.

Best bet for working is in Gib if you want an english environment. if not i know loads of restaurants and bars that are looking for people at the moment.

You will pik up the language in the first week. (there was a man on a spanish version of pop idol who was american and had been in spain for 6 weeks and he was put in there and learnt spanish in no time, he didnt have any choice)

i dont think there is an actual age for working and if there is then no1 respects it. ive been workin part time since i was 13.

If you wana ad me or send me an email for more info or help or just support on your move then your very welcome! my email is xparysx@hotmail.com

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!

A few words of advice if you wish to sit A-levels etc., in spanish or in english, you must learn to write in english much better the spelling in your note is horrendous to  say the least you are not much of an advertisement for Spanish schools.

I hope the person making the enquiries does not take you too seriously,

I am sorry I do not wish to be rude, but you must check what you have written before you post it............bye.....

  4. You have to be 15 to drive a moped , it used to be 14 but the law changed recently.

    Schools.-

Why do you want to come to Spain and then go to or send your kids to an international school ? If you really want to integrate , then the Spanish schools are good. You learn the language VERY  quickly that way as you mix with loads of Spanish people and they get a very good and free education( my daughters state high-school is bilingual) . If you want to mix with all German and British people then go for an international school, but if that's what you want then I don't see the point of coming to Spain , go to England or Germany. I seem to get the idea that some people think a Spanish state education is somehow substandard but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Spanish is very easy to learn if you mix with Spanish people on a daily basis like i did, but I also know of foreigners that have been here 30 years and don't speak Spanish and then they complain when immigrants to their country do the same. Integrate and you learn in no time !

You must be 16 to do ANY type of paid work, even at weekends or after school.

The red tape and paperwork will drive you mad and things take a long time to get done here so if you are patient and laid back you will be ok, but if you like things done efficiently and in a hurry then Spain is not the place for you lol

  5. Hi,

I'm 27 and I have lived in Spain (Alicante) for 19 years (from the age of 1 to 19).

Spain is a wonderful country to live in, especially because of the weather and the food and the relaxed way of life. I really miss it now!!

I had a moped from the age of 14. The official age to work is 16, but of course you can work unofficialy. I was a babysitter when I was 12!

Learning the language is hard if you are an adult and don't speak any other languages. Don't believe otherwise. I am fluent but it is because I grew up with the language and went to a Spanish school all my life. Basically, for adults the degree of difficulty is proportionate to how man languages you already speak, if the answer is just 1 and it is not a latin language (French, Italian, Portuguese...) it is going to be a massive challenge.

I very strongly discourage international schools, especially for younger kids as they will pick up the language quickly. I always went to a small local Spanish school and I have since gone on to a red brick UK university, so don't think that the Spanish education system is worse than in the UK.

    Good luck!
