  1. it sucks because you dont have someone to entertan you.

  2. I am an only child and I had different experiences/feelings growing up. I remember wanting a sibling when I was about 6yo and now being 31 with a toddler, I wish I had a sister/brother. I feel like when my parents are gone I will have no one and my daughter will have no cousins, aunts, or uncles. However, I do see people with sisters/brothers, cousins, etc who have alot of family drama. I think with everything there is good/bad and I try to focus on the good. Even though I don't have much childhood memory growing up  I am making memories with my daughter now. I definitely want to get pregnant by next year so my daughter could have a sibling. Because I was an only child I want a big family.

  3. I grew up envious of my cousins who have siblings, i always wanted a big brother,..someone who'd protect me, who'd meddle with my personal affairs because he cares for me..it is a little sad, but this idea of being 'alone' taught me to be highly independent even at an early age.

  4. I love being a mom but I like being a mom to one child since this makes me happier. I don't want to have 2 or more children only because it's the norm. I guess I am just not the average but it's good to hear from some other moms who want to have one child only. You are not allone. Don't feel guilty about it. anon

  5. I hated being an only child. Very lonely, especially when all the kids I knew in my neighborhood moved away. No one to play board games with and what not. My mother ignored me, and wouldn't even bother trying to fill the void. I have a son and he is an only child right now. I don't want him to go through what I went through. He has asked me for a little sister quite often. Not easy to explain to a four year old why its not easy to just have another child.

  6. I am an only child and I loved it!  Luckily I have the greatest mom ever.  We got to spend a lot of time together and to this day she is still my best friend.

  7. It was great. I didn't have to share or fight with anyone . I learned to be mature and entertain myself. I never at any point wanted a brother or sister.

  8. I'm a only child and the youngest in family so i do sometimes feel alone.

But i don't blame my parents for that, and i have close friends who i treat as family :)

I do sometimes wish i had someone to look up 2 or ask something apart from my parents or wish to look after someone.

  9. I have a half sister, but I've never lived with her cuz she's 28 and I'm 13 and she lived with her mom when she was a teen, so I'm basically an only. I like it most of the time. I kinda wish I had a sibling just for company, but it would make life harder. like I couldn't go out to dinner with my parents spur of the moment cuz we have a little kid or cuz my  older sibling had to study or something. I don't know. I like having my parents all to myself, but sometimes it appeals to me to have a sibling. if you only want one kid, only have one kid. They won't know what its like to have sibs so they won't miss it.

  10. I'm the 2nd of 4 and i like having an older brother(usually) and a younger sister. but little brothers are THE WORST!!!!! i couldn't even imagine being an only child. i think it would b terrible. but, yuou would get spoiled.
