My husband has been offered a job in the Kent region and we're looking to move there but not sure what areas are nice?

Chatham is very cheap for housing, and there is probably a reason for this! Are there any nice areas to live in Chatham, Kent, UK?

What is it like living in this town? Or can you suggest anywhere else within a few miles or so that are nice to live in and affordable too?

  1. http://www.upmystreet.com/local/my-neigh...

That site seems to be quite accurate. It seems like quite a poor area- low income and few people educated to degree level

  2. chatham = chav central

  3. Chatham is the spiritual home of the chav, and as a result has a town centre to be avoided.

Depends on your house budget really, you can get some nice houses really, am thinking of the Chatham Maidstone Road area or St Mary's Island. But if you have a decent budget anyway, I would advise looking in Rochester, which although directly next door to Chatham, is a bit more classy.

For me, I would avoid Chatham, Gillingham and Strood and look for somewhere in Rochester or Rainham. All 5 of these of towns are in within 5-10 miles of each other, but can be a world apart in terms of ideal living

I live in Rochester and know the Medway Towns well, so if you need more information on specific areas then let me know
