  1. I still enjoy it a lot!!! It certainly is not a fairy tale but it's still very entertaining and as you say, just knowing you have everything around the corner makes it great. Manhattan is always more beautiful looking to it from outside than actually living here but this city is amazing.

  2. NYC is no joke! I used to come to NY on vacation every year. I fell in love. I moved here 5 years ago and try to make the best of it now. As a tourist Times Square will look wonderful to you. As a resident, Times Square is the worst thing that could happen to you. It is crowded as h**l. You will need a machete to go through that thick crowd of people.

The Bronx Zoo is great if you go on a free day beside that expect to pay a good $30 to visit.  Twice a year is more than enough. How many time do you have to see the monkeys...

My favorites things about NYC are the libraries. The best ones are in Queens and Manhatthan. And also during the summer there is so much to do. the city is expensive but if you master it you will find ways to get major deals and cut your spendings.

If you want to move to the city by yourself let me tell you the costs: $900/month for studio (excluding manhatthan), $120 cable internet and phone ( that s a deal!) , cell phone bill ( if you need one) and the little extra little freaking things you never expected to pay for ( gotta have insurance!) ....

NYC is not a fairytale land. People work hard, have long commute and  endure the horrible smell on the subways ( is it p**p..?  We wonder...)

Wanna move? get a good Job, be rich, or get a sugar Daddy or Mommy. LOL

  3. i went there twice and it is the best feeling in the world standing on a street watching the taxi's and the lights at night. If you go the most amazing feeling is being on the Empire state building because you can see like 5 different bridges and all the tall buildings with lights. I hope you get to go because it is the best place in the world!!!!!!!!

  4. It depends where you live.  I live on the boarder of Brooklyn/Queens - in Canarsie.  It gets quite and transportation stops working at Midnight so after you take the train in you need to catch a cab or park your car close by the train station.  It's good to know that the City never sleeps, something is always going on, but I have the option of taking the express bus to the city so I don't have to necessarily put up with the iron horse (the trains).  My brother lived across the street from the Bronx Zoo and I never visited except when I was a kid - I don't care for the Bronx.  It's beautiful hanging out in Manhattan especially at night the lights are bright and the restaurants are to die for.  You have Bryant Park, Central Park, Herald Square, Chinatown etc.

Now as for Queens - if you are looking for houses lined up and patches of grass then Queens it is - just don't move to Jamaica, Queens and try not to look for parking in Kew Gardens.  But you have Hollis, Laurelton, Springfield Gardens, Queens Village, Flushing just to name a few.

  5. it's like getting up at 6:00 am, sleepily getting ready for work, walking down 3 flights of stairs because the elevator is broken again.  it's like walking 6 blocks past rotting garbage to the subway, dodging homeless and panhandlers, trying not to stare at anyone because you never know who has a knife or a gun and wants to kill you for your shoes.

other than that, it's wonderful. :)
