What is it like in Santorini?

Is it as picturesque as everyone makes it seem? is it like the pictures you see online? i wanna go there for vacation. and when is the best time to go in the year where it's sunny and beautiful and what city is the best and most beautiful one. and what's it like at night? sorry! lots of questions

It's very scenic, you should go anytime between June and September, even May perhaps, and stay at Oia.

However, it has all the problems that go together with a lot of tourism. I would definitely prefer a more quiet island, like Naxos, in July,  it has better beaches too.

In a word it is : breathtaking.  

Best time to visit: May-June, September (the weather is great most of the time,  in June - September the water is in the best temperature for swimming & walking around the island as it also is in May when the island is 'greener')

Don't go to Oia with bad company or without your 'significant other'.

If with friends stay in Fira (for the night life) or Kamari - Perivolos (black beaches).

Pictures and peoples description can do no justice for the Island of Santorini. It is truelly mind blowing, Oia is nice but very little to do there, I always stay in Fira, It is very beautiful and has lots to do for every taste. The beaches are also great, Black red or white sand beaches, take your pick. you will also find awesome night life in Fira, great clubs (Koo club rocks) I just got back and miss it already...
