What are your experiences about long term effects? I know at first it just makes me sleepy and less hungry but what will I feel later after some months perhaps?

  1. You can become acclimatized in 4-6 weeks by gradually increasing your activities, but over the long term you will discover the physical reason behind the so-called "indolence" of tropical peoples.  The higher the ambient temperature and humidity, the longer it takes your body to dissipate the heat generated by activity.  Once ambient temperature reaches body temperature the only way your body can cool itself is through perspiration.  If the relative humidity should approach 100% the only way you can shed heat is for your body temperature to rise.  At about 103F to 105F delerium sets in, and above that, unconsciousness, and possible death.

In other words, in humid tropical climates, you may find yourself taking a siesta whether you wish to or not.
