  1. Hahahah, you're inquiring about your first train ride on Yahoo! Answers.

Wow, I'd love to jump out in front of you like a mugger in the city just to see how doused your pants get after you just pissed yourself.  Relax dude, I know mom's minivan isn't public transportation, but you'll get through it like a big boy.

  2. Should be no problem.

Anyway the only "creepy weird people" that ever show up on the LIRR get on at the Garden City station anyway. So you will know who they are before they get on the train.

  3. Whoa, whoa, wait!  There's no service on that line tomorrow (Saturday 8/23)!

It will be a shuttle bus replacing trains on the Hempstead Branch.  That'll take you to Jamaica.  From Jamaica, take any train to Penn Station.  That part takes 20 minutes.

OR, you can get a train on the West Hempstead Branch instead.

Either way, read the linked page for the details.

As for riding the train, it's just fine.  It's also very busy on weekends.  From Jamaica, it's even busier.
