  1. Home-schooling is a lot more flexible than regular school. You decide when to start and end. Although if you are doing some courses on-line, you might have times when you enter a "classroom" and that is a set time. For lunch you again set your own time. You don't really have "homework" because everything you do is on your own time. I love homeschooling you can work at your own pace and you have a lot more freedom in what you do with your time and it is a lot more hands on learning. It does take a lot more discipline than regular school because at home you are not usually forced to sit in a pretty much empty room and do your work but i wouldn't do anything else.

  2. School time starts about 8:30 or so. Sometimes they get up earlier on their own to get things done to take off in the afternoon earlier. It is flexible as long as they are getting work done. School ends when everything is completed and I look it over at least. Usually by around 1:00 at the latest for us.

Lunch, really whenever we want. Sometimes we go to the park, others we just stay here.

Homework? RIGHT. Everything is pretty much wrapped up when the school assignments are done. I never could understand (when my kids where in school) why they had 2 or more hours of homework. Exactly what did they do in school? My kids will sometimes do reading or extra research on something that they are interested in. That's about it.

    Blessings!

    edit:

I should add that my oldest actually does take some classes and activities at the local High school, so obviously, her school day ends around 4 when she gets home in the afternoon.

  3. It's awesome. I'm graduating one year early this year because of it. I do my school whenever I feel like it and I eat whenever I feel like and I don't have any homework. I have American School of Correspondence and it is fairly easy and I think you would enjoy it.

  4. It all depends on what style of home learning you are into. We practise unschooling (which means we do not replicate the public school concept in any way). We make our own curriculum based on our interests. We do not keep strict schedules of any kind, except for when we have to be at work, and we have always assimilated our homeschooling (unschooling) into our daily lives.

We get up when we wake, we go to bed when we are tired, and we eat when we get hungry. Life is like perpetual summer at our house. This is the best way I can describe how we live and learn. Because we know that real life does not divide learning into hours or periods or school days, we live and learn and grow daily from our interaction with others, our interests, and our experiences.

We are involved in the community. We are involved with jobs. We are a famiy who loves learning and loves life.

Two of our kids have graduated from our unschool and work full-time. One of them is in her 20's and married. Another one will graduate this spring. That leaves one who will graduate in two years. All four of our kids have (un)homeschooled from birth. Our kids are bright, witty, and caring adults who have had not trouble living in the real world. They have life skills along with book skills (self-taught) and they are wonderful people.

The oldest is planning on unschooling her kids and the others have said they most likely will, too. The kids loved the freedom and opportunities that our unschool lifestyle has given them.

Though we have lived this laissez-faire lifestyle, all the kids have been successful at work, in relationships with others, and in any committments they have made. They know how to be responsible, on time, and to get things done when it is needed. All the kids read, keep bank accounts, and have no problems in life or at work.

So you can live your homeschool lifestyle any way thay fits you and you will be successful in life.

Each family is different, which is how it should be in a free republic.

  5. I home schooled for 4 years and it all depends on what your teacher (parent) wants to do. I got up at 8 every day, ate breakfast, etc... then started my classes around 9 or so. I would continue until about 1 pm and go eat lunch and watch Spongebob Squarepants. Then i would go back and do a couple more hours of school. But the cool thing is, you dont have to stick to your schedule, you can change it up as long as you are getting in your schooling. You can even work on one subject (math, social studies, etc) for the entire day. Whatever you want to do as long as your learning everything you need to learn.

  6. What homeschoolers do during day, and how they do it varies very much. So here are my personal answers.

    1. Yes, we start at 9:00 AM and I usually stop studying around 4:30 to 5:00 (I have some breaks during the day to exercise, shower, etc.)

    2. Yup, lunch is at 12:30

    3. We just have what we need to do, and we need to accomplish them. We don't call our extra work "homework" we call them assignments.

  7. Yep...email me for details....my best friend is home schooled..and i see her do it everyday!!

    star for you

  8. It depends entirely on the person being homeschooled. My school start time changes from day to day. Some days it is 10:00 in the morning, some days it's closer to noon or 1, some days I might be busy or out all day long and I'll do my schooling at night. End time is usually somewhere between two and five hours after start time, most often four. Of course I have lunch, but I eat it when I get hungry and feel like a break (though it doesn't always interfere with school), and sometimes I'll be eating out for the sake of going for a walk, or because I'm out and about in the real world. I don't have homework because there's simply no need for it. I do all the work I need to in order to master the material and no extra just to keep myself busy.

  9. It depends on the family. The schedule you are describing is "school at home," which adheres to a school - like schedule.

In our house, every day is different.  School starts when we are up, have eaten and are ready to learn.  Sometimes this means leaving the house for a class, other times it means doing the subject that we find most interesting....

Lunch is eaten when we are hungry.

We don't do homework.  It's not necessary.

  10. It's boring trust me.My home school teacher comes at 2:30 in the afternoon leaves at 3.Then she comes back two days later and picks up my homework. So i have to turn in my homework to her every two days.No i don't get lunch or anything..
