I got a letter in the mail saying that I might get to go Australia. I know I have to get about five thousand dollars, and I'm really excited to go. I am afraid of heights though and wanted to know about riding on a plane for the first time. I would also like to know about what you do and what it's like in a different country? Please answer my question and thanks!

  1. About the plane, I'm afraid of heights but planes don't bother me. Fear of planes is it's own phobia. Only the takeoff and landing is turbulent (bumpy) unless your flying in a storm. Then be prepared for a kinda rough ride. It's all normal though, just pockets of warmer air that is less dense because of its temperature and causes the plane to drop a few feet and the pilot to react by regaining the altitude and sometimes increasing power. The higher you are the smoother it is because the pockets of warm air have time to cool as they rise. These pockets come from skyscrapers and roads, so flying over the ocean is really smooth. Landing is rougher if there are crosswinds. But usually it's only a minute or so after takeoff and about 10 minutes while decreasing altitude to land that is bumpy and can get scary. That's why they tell you to sit, put your seatbelt on, and seatback forward. If they do this mid-flight don't panic, it's because the pilot feels it's too turbulent to be walking around.

  2. My first plan ride was when i was in grade six and its not that scary. The only thing scary are the toilets lol They make this really big whooshing sound when you flush it and i tried not to use it =D The only thing i hate was that my ears would get blocked when we left off and landed, so i had to yawn a lot and gum didn't help. It's really boring soo take a book or your ipod or something fun and if your seated in the aisle try not to sleep that way coz the flight attendants with the trolley kept hitting me. OW

Enough about the planes and onto Australia.

Australia is one of the greatest countries ever except if your going soon we do have to take shorter showers and not to waste as much water as possible because all the water was drying out but not anymore sorta. In Australia cars drive on the left side! Important if you don't want to get hit by a car. We use a lot of Aussie slang and the people i know are really sarcastic. Its exciting being in another country but its also scary. If your going to the bush its beautiful but scary and the city is exactly the same. Most of the people are great but like any other country there are good and bad people and places. I suggest you go to the gold coast, near brisbane, it has a lot of theme parks that are safe like Dreamworld, White water world, Wet 'n' Wild, Movie World etc Their good coz they are only a short distance from each other. Erm i havn't really explored Australia but i have been to the Sydney harbour bridge. Get a tour guide or something =] Hopefully if you do go there you can understand the accent and some of the words.

    Btw where are you from?
