I am moving to Puerto Rico soon and I would just like to know from someone who's lived there what it's like? Also is the schooling good, because I would be finishing Highschool there? I live and have lived in colorado for 12 years so I'm guessing Puerto Rico will be a big change.

  1. It all depends on how well you SPEAK SPANISH... if you don't speak Spanish then you are going to be challenged, but if you do speak Spanish, you should do OK.

  2. It's pretty rad.

  3. it like to live in Miami. and the people is like from Orlando or New York.

  4. Well... been on San Juan is very fun. is the capital of Puerto Rico and had all at your reach. There are horribles traffic jams but thats nothing from another world. Schools are very wears, i said it because schools in Puerto Rico are very differents in every zone. But for same is good jeje. If u know to speak well the language, u r in. If u dont know how to speak it u will have some problems with your schoolmates. If u apparent to know the language u will be doing ridiculous. But not everyone is like that jeje, were very humble. Take care!, bye bye!

  5. I lived in San Juan for 8 years after graduating college and loved it.  I didn't speak any Spanish when I got there and had no problem getting jobs at hotels and restaurants.  I mostly got around by bicycle (not the safest way around, but many times the fastest).  Most people speak some English and people are very friendly.  There is a ton of stuff to do.  Beaches, Old San Juan, clubs, outdoor activities all year.  I hope your going to private school though, because the public system is sub par.  That's why I left when my daughter was born.  Bueno Suerte!  (Good luck - I think)

  6. It's definitely the most americanized part of the island.  We go there quite a bit.  You can easily get by with English only.  We speak it to everyone we talk to at restaurants, stores, etc.  The public schools lack a little, but there are many private schools to choose from too.  We live on the island and visit there alot.  It will be alot different than Colorado, but it is a great city with lots of fun things to keep you busy.

  7. You'll do just fine.  If you are finishing High School here I strongly suggest you to ask your parents to enroll you in a private school, preferably one that is bilingual (I came from the states too and studied 5 years in one of these schools) as public schooling in PR sucks. Also most of the kids in private schools share the same interests as those in the mainland regarding TV, movies, music so you won't feel out of place at all.

    Good Luck!
