What is it like to live in Durham, UK? Should I move from Edinburgh?

I have an opportunity to move there for a new job. Can you tell me if rent is expensive, what kind of vibe there is there and how far it is from Newcastle?

I went to college in Durham City. It was a wonderful place to study. I just loved the city, I have so many idyllic memories.

Durham is about 20 miles from Newcastle. It used to take an hour on the bus many years ago, but there were no motorways in those days.

I would imagine it could be quite expensive, but I no longer live in the UK so I'm not up to property prices.

Seems a nice place to me - watch out the city centre has a congestion charge IIRC and the stations a bit of a way out - its about 30mins from Newcastle by train again IIRC
