What is it like to live in oman, muskat? my boyfriend has got offered a job out there!?

and the money is great so we didnt want to pass it up but they have said we have to be married before we go so we are considering that aswell, so i really would like to know what its like, especially for my 2 little boys, 1 of them is 2 and the other only afew months old, but what are the schools like? whats the nurserys like? will there be any near us? what are the people like?by the way we come from england! i am just concerned about my kids and what it is like over there, also is it exspencive over there? please help, many thanks, oh my boyfriend if you need to know is going to be a volvo hgv mechanic.

  1. For a start, Oman is not in Muscat. Muscat is in the Sultanate of Oman. It is a Muslim country, but not strict, marriage though, yes I imagine you would have to be. You will almost certainly find an English School there, private of course.

    I worked down in Salalah for a while, it's fine. Go if you get the chance, and don't forget where you can go on holiday, your company will pay the fare back to UK, but if you want to elsewhere, fine.

    Sorry I have never been there.Are you sure you want to leave the country? It´s a very big cultural change.Your children are very young and they´ll adapt,but what about you two?

    I wouldn´t do it if it happened to me.My husband is British and we live in Spain,and he is happy here,but he misses his country a lot,and the cultures ,even if they are different,they aren´t as different as UK and Oman.
