  1. Good idea, they are very compatible. When i was in college I remember my professor saying acocunting is the language of business. If you understand the flow of transactions, you will understand the numbers and be able to run your business effectively. Not many people other than accountants understand the numbers, so you will have a competitive advantage,

  2. I am planning to major in Accounting. I do not know what my minor is going to be. But it is between Managment or Finance.

But yes that is a Bright Future. Accountants are in high demand right now and in the future.

  3. Good complements. I majored in Accounting it wasn't easy. Most people drop the major after Intermediate Accounting 1-2 (those are the 2 courses that generally make or break people within that major), the other challenging course was Cost/Managerial Accounting...everything else was fair as far as difficulty.

Definitely go for the CPA Track as far as Accounting. The best route b/c it leaves you w/ the option to be on the right track towards courses you will need to gain eligibility for your CPA, you are guaranteed at least 6 figures with that certification ; ) I am taking final courses towards the CPA now and have finished 137 out of the needed 150.

The job market is very hot right now for Accountants. We are in high demand. The average salary for a graduate entering into the market is $46-51K.

We also make excellent entrepreneurs/business owners b/c we have a better sense of money (we have extensive knowledge about expenses and debts profits etc) so it makes us better Managers and CEO's : )

  4. of course, that's great. Most people I know major in accounting and minor in Finance but yours sound great.

I think what your doing is great because as an accounting student I  have to take about 4 or more management classes. So since you are minoring in business management, you should not really have much of a problem.

As for what accounting is like. It's basically math, math, math, and boring classes (I don't find them boring). I almost forgot, there is lots and lots of reading. Also grades matter. The higher your grade, the better job you could find.  So you might find some students flipping out over an "A-".

  5. Sounds like a great plan.  Being able to track your own expenditures is very important in a business.  Make sure you take classes on tax code too.
