  1. Grass courts are the fastest type of tennis court in common use (AstroTurf is faster but is primarily only used for personal courts). They consist of grass grown on very hard-packed soil, similar to golf greens, which adds an additional variable: bounces depend on how healthy the grass is, how recently it has been mown, and the wear and tear of recent play.

Clay courts slow down the ball and produce a high bounce when compared to grass courts or hard courts. For this reason, the clay court takes away some advantage of big serves, which makes it hard for serve-based players to dominate on the surface.

  2. the ball bounces higher on grass and will be quicker as on the when the ball hits the surface, it compresses more and so takes longer to retun to shape and come up.

grass can be more slippery too so wear proper tennis shoes and be prepared for some extra fast shots!

  3. grass is more slick and a faster surface....

    the ball will skid more,

the serve is even more important on grass then it is on clay

on clay the ball will bounce higher

the ball moves a bit slower

a huge serve is not as much as an advantage
