  1. no stopping at every stop light, no traffic, doesn't need to be pulled over by the police except an emergency or stations. I recently took Amtrak from San Francisco to Reno and it took 90 mins to get there doing 120 mph+

  2. Not much different from riding a fake train. Bring something to do while your on your trip and some snacks. Plan on arriving late.

  3. umm, like riding in a car or a bus!!

  4. I run them for a living so the thrill of riding on them has wore off.Still enjoyable though.

  5. its great. you can pack your own food and drinks (even alcohol if you wanted). there are outlets to plug in your electronics, and friendly service, so sit back and enjoy the ride! But make sure to bring a book or something to keep you occupied.

  6. It's kind of like having real s*x or water skiing on real water--far more satisfying than the imaginary kind!

  7. My experience with the train is recent-last month.  Trains are huge, long, and powerful.  The advantage of riding is the ever-changing view of the countryside, completely unavail able to those that fly or drive.  The disadvantage is the time that it takes to get to where you're going.  Enjoy meeting your fellow passengers, and bring along some snacks.  You will need them.

  8. I just now got home after spending 11 hours on the right side of the engine cab. Shuffling cars, a crabby Conductor, too many hills, and the locomotive heater wouldn't shut off. I'm gonna take a shower!

  9. kinda boring if it is a long ride.  unless you have a sleeper car.
