What is it like to tkae a 1200 mile trip aboard Greyhound???

  1. Lets just say it wouldn't be my first choice.  Depending on the route, you are looking at 24 hours plus in a small seat, with no entertainment, limited bathroom facilities and short breaks.  Plus, to be honest, people traveling Greyhound (and airplanes too) don't seem to have the best hygiene sometimes (and after 24 hours in a can, no one on that bus will be particularly fresh).

    It's a cheaper way to get places, but not comfortable at all.

I've taken only a 250 mile trip Greyhound and it was okay.  It's pretty slow (compared to say, driving yourself), but if you can't drive/don't want to, I would look into trains as opposed to buses.  I am looking to do most of my traveling by train in the near future.  Airplanes are driving me crazy! :)
