I am in nursing school, and I have been working on a a med surg floor for almost 3 years. well I just got a transfer in the hospital as an OB care associate helping deliver babies. I have never watched the miracle of life before and I am worried that it is going to be too much for me to handle. I'm only 19 and have no kids. So can anyone tell me what's it like watching c-sections and vaginal births? Is it exciting? I am very excited just I dont know what to expect.

  1. It's painful and messy, with really long boring bits in between the contractions.  Just be really considerate of the mom-to-be's feelings, and know that a fairly large percentage p**p as they're pushing out their baby.  They don't need to be told!

  2. ....you tube!

i got over the ewwy feeling after watching some on you tube! very graphic..but if your going to be looking at it everyday it might help get used to it..

  3. So...why don't you just watch one on YouTube?

  4. its not as bad or gross as most people would think it is. It's a very beautiful thing. I'm 18 and i helped deliver my sisters baby. It's a wonderful experience

  5. To watch births i suggest youtube, i watched it like 4 days ago.. i was very curious myself. i Suggest you prepare you self if your not into blood and liquid coming out of places... I got a garbage can ready, in case i need to vomit. It's pretty interesting and i wasn't grossed out like i thought i would be. Youtube is the place to go.

  6. There is nothing special in it...As for humans it happened millions and trillions of times. There is nothing special in it.

  7. Im not going to lie to you, it was gruesome

I know it is the 'miracle of life' & everything, but to say it doesnt look like a terribly painful experience is bullocks

I was in the delivery room with my friend when she gave birth to her first When it was time to push & the baby was coming out, and being suctioned back in it looked bloody painful (literally) There was fluid everywhere When the baby was crowning I suppose her epidural had semi-worn out because it looked like her head was about to spin

I am due in a few months, & im sure it will be an unforgettable experience for me But I am keeping in mind no matter how I get the kid out it will be messy & painful

  8. AMAZING! i have had 5 babies myself but beening  at a vaginal  birth and c section  were truly amazing a feeling ill never forget

cant put it words sorry :-(

i was very nervous watching both but then instincts kicked in and i supported my friends after they both thanked me for all i had done... personally i felt i needed to thank them for letting me share such a wonderful thing
