  1. Okay, I may be different from you, but I was 16 when I started, and just quit. I was over-appreciated and under paid...They put me wherever the h**l they wanted, ect.. plus I was dealing with germs, and think about it...12 stranger's brats.. Other then that, I had some money coming in, and it was only evenings and weekdays......... so, there are upsides and downsides..

  2. First, you need your qualifications to work in a child care centre. Secondly, you need to be organized, healthy, and love children. Yes, it can be demanding. Yes, it doesn't pay very much. Yes, you can feel overworked. But, you are shaping these young people. You are instilling within them, the love of learning, fun and acceptance of each other. Yes, you will build immunities to all kinds of colds and flus; it doesn't mean you won't catch what is going around.

The bottom line is, if children are your passion, you will love your job.

  3. I loved it but It takes a year to build up ammunities with germs, it's alot of responsibility, fun and challenging pay is low and alot of children 20-30 children a day to work with, I am a teacher with infants-through fifth grade, not working now

  4. No

Toddlers 2-3 had to potty train

    Minimum wage

    The boss was a prick

  5. Hard work long hours and dealing with bodily functions you'd rather not, demanding parents and ofsted to please masses of paperwork and poor pay.But emense self pleasure when a child says your name sits on your knee or takes those first steps.I mainly work with the under 2's

  6. yes i did like daycare and the age group is 16 100 dollars a h

  7. its actully fun children like to talk to u and u get to play and understand them i have a partime job as a daycare assitant well its fun hope i helped!

  8. I work like a dog and make minimum wage.

  9. last week my aunt wanted a favour from me.....she wanted me to work for her in a daycare for just like three hours!!omg it was horrrible..........the kids were all below 5 and they were pretty annoying!!!!god if you are not experienced and young like me then puhhleeeeeeez don't ruin yourself !!

  10. I worked home day-care for about 10 years, and then started a church day-care with a friend in our church.

I worked with all the age groups we cared for...infant through school age...but mostly with three year old.

It is physically demanding, you have to have a strong stomach. When a child is throwing up, or has diahhrea, or wets his/her pants you have to deal with it. It is emotionally draining too especially if you have your own children because at the end of the day you don't get to stop working because your job is basically parenting for others. When you get home you are going to hear "Mom, mom, mom".

But, there is nothing like surrounding yourself with little people for joy, and fun, and giggles.

Know the place you are working. What are the rules, do they have enough coverage so you won't get overewhelmed with too many children, do they schedule adequate breaks for the staff?

Usually it is easier to deal with the 8 children in your care than it is to deal with the 8 sets of parents.

  11. I've worked at Day care centers in both Texas and California, now mind you Texas was over 10 years ago so wages should have increased.  In Texas I worked with age s ranging from 3-5yrs.  I got paid $4.75 an hour ugh!

In California I worked with four year olds and I got paid $9.00 an hour, better :)   It is rewarding and the kids are so loving on their good days.  I will say I learned a lot about children and their development and I also learned how to be patient with their behavior.  I think you will be amazed at how much children are capable of given the environment and opportunity.  Have fun:)
