  2. keep in mind, that cruise ships are foreign flagged so they do not have to follow US labor laws or pay.  Most people work 7 days a week for 12-14hrs a day with low pay (by US standards).  There are however some perks,  occassionally they will get a day off so they can enjoy the ports and of course they get to eat well!! A casino dealer will have it easier than a waiter or a room steward though.

  3. We asked that question to quite a few people on the Royal Caribbean ship and they said:

    They love their jobs and it can be fun.

    12 to 16 hour days, 4 to 6 month contracts with 2 months off.

    Only can contact your family when on land and if you have time off.

    Very hard work and demanding at time.
