  1. Protein repairs and builds muscle. So I guess you can say it strengthens it. Carbohydrates give you energy enabling you to use your muscle to their fullest potential. Calories are just calories.


  2. protein and carbs both strengthens muscles  that why body builders eat alot  like pasta ,bread. um also you can use like creatine muscle mass

    like a drink/shake  that worked well for me !

It's the amino acids from proteins as well as the hormones produced from dietery fats that build muscles.  Carbs are also very important during gaining phases as carbs provide needed energy as well as spares protein for muscle building.  That's why the most successful bodybuilders include an appropriate balance of all macronutrients, not just protein.  Increased caloric intake is very important for building muscle, though the quality and type of calories consumed is just as important as the number of cals.  That's also why successful bodybuilders have learned to eat extremely clean.  Calories are the macronutrients, it's not its own thing (proteins, carbohydrates, fats).
